Sol Protocol, the co-op space roguelike from Singular Perception, opens Early Access on Meta Quest 3 and Quest 3S on September 17.

Sol Protocol, a procedurally generated space-based co-op roguelike, has announced a September 17 Early Access release date on Quest 3 & Quest 3S, and developer Singular Perception (Epyka) also opened pre-orders for $9.99, a discount from the $12.99 full price at release. VR.org independently confirmed the same window and pricing, reporting that Singular Perception’s three-player space roguelike opens Early Access on Quest 3 at $9.99, rising to $12.99 at launch.

Pilot, Gunner and Engineer Aboard The Pathfinder

Players and two friends assume three interchangeable roles on a fully interactive spaceship: pilot, gunner, and engineer. The team travels through hostile star systems and works together to survive procedurally generated encounters in deep space, including battles with enemy ships and exploration of abandoned outposts and stations, with the goal of repairing and upgrading the team’s ship, The Pathfinder.

The concept draws on established genre touchstones. Sol Protocol draws inspiration from the now delisted Star Trek: Bridge Crew, 2012’s FTL: Faster Than Light, and 2024’s Void Crew. That lineage explains the emphasis on split responsibilities under pressure rather than a single hero build.

Automa Fill-Ins Cover the Empty Third Seat

Not every squad will field three humans, and Singular Perception has a plan for that. The studio is developing fully autonomous systems called Automa to fill in the gaps when a three-person team cannot be assembled, alongside additional ship configurations for different crew sizes. VR.org’s reporting on the same feature notes that the AI crew fill-ins are still in development, which makes the roguelike run structure the thing that has to carry it for the initial Early Access build.

Cross-Play Playtest Set for Late August

Before the September launch, the team is running one more public check. Singular Perception is planning a cross-play supported playtest at the end of this month. The team has been conducting biweekly playtests, with the next one scheduled for the end of August, and players can sign up via Discord.

SteamVR Version Targeted for October

Quest owners get first crack at the game, but PC VR players are not far behind. The Quest release timing and an October SteamVR follow-up were first outlined at June’s VR Games Showcase. Road to VR’s coverage of that same showcase listed the game with a September 2026 date on the Meta Store for Early Access, followed by October 2026 on Steam, also in Early Access.

The Steam listing sketches the same pitch for that later PC VR crowd: a dynamic VR co-op roguelike where players team up and physically pilot a spaceship through procedurally generated stellar systems, managing the ship, manning the turrets and exploring abandoned stations on foot. Anyone buying into the Quest Early Access build on September 17 will be paying $9.99, with that price climbing to $12.99 once the game leaves Early Access and the SteamVR version follows in October.
