WoW Armory Finally Adds Classic, TBC and Mists of Pandaria Support

Blizzard has switched on Armory support for every version of Classic World of Warcraft, letting players look up characters from Classic Era, Burning Crusade Classic and Mists of Pandaria Classic on the official website for the first time.

The official WoW Armory page now lets players view characters, gear, achievements, and stats, with a Game Version selector covering World of Warcraft, World of Warcraft Classic, Burning Crusade Classic and Mists of Pandaria Classic. The change arrived without a formal patch note or press release, spotted first by players browsing the site rather than announced through Blizzard’s usual news channels.

Longtime Classic players have noticed the gap sting for years, so the sudden fix has people trading theories about why it happened now:

Classic Era Search Now Covers Hardcore and Season of Discovery

The rebuild is not a bare-bones lookup tool. Selecting Classic Era pulls in characters from every currently available iteration of that mode, including standard Classic Era, Hardcore servers, and Season of Discovery. Season of Discovery characters even show mode-specific details, such as Runes and exclusive enchants, on mouseover.

That level of detail matters because Classic’s various offshoots have diverged sharply in itemization and class design since 2019. A single Armory entry point that can distinguish a Hardcore corpse-run survivor from a Season of Discovery rune-build character removes one of the last practical excuses for treating each mode as a separate silo.

Seven Years Without a Classic Armory

This marks the first time since Classic’s original release in 2019 that Classic characters have had an Armory option available. The absence was not an oversight. Blizzard said at launch that an Armory would not be a feature at the start, because it wanted to preserve the dynamic of physically inspecting other players for gear, noting that the original Armory itself only arrived at the end of the Burning Crusade expansion.

Before the original Burning Crusade launch, there was no Armory for World of Warcraft at all: players had to physically inspect one another in the world to check gear, and even then could not see spec or talent builds, nor inspect the opposite faction until patch 2.4. Blizzard reused that same reasoning when Classic launched in 2019, deliberately holding the feature back to keep the old-school guesswork intact. Six years and multiple Classic re-releases later, that restriction has quietly ended.

Timing Lines Up With BlizzCon on September 12-13

The update lands roughly two weeks before Blizzard’s flagship convention returns to Southern California. BlizzCon is scheduled for Saturday, September 12, and Sunday, September 13, at the Anaheim Convention Center. That proximity has fed speculation among Classic players that the Armory rebuild is groundwork for something bigger, though Blizzard has not tied the two together in any statement.

Third-party tools built by the community, sites like Classic Armory and ClassicWoWArmory.com, have filled the gap since 2019 by scraping or hosting player-submitted data. Those projects will now compete directly with an official page built on Blizzard’s own character records, a shift that typically settles in favor of the developer once accuracy and login integration are on the table.

Regional Coverage Includes Americas, Europe, Korea and Taiwan

The tool includes a region filter spanning Americas and Oceania, Europe, Korea and Taiwan, alongside sign-in through a Battle.net account to surface a player’s own characters directly. Arena data, long requested by Burning Crusade and Mists players wanting ladder history without third-party trackers, appears to be part of the same rebuilt system rather than a separate rollout.

Blizzard has not published a dedicated blog post explaining the scope of the change, leaving players to map its edges through direct testing of the live page. For now the practical result stands regardless of motive: character gear across Classic Era, Burning Crusade Classic and Mists of Pandaria Classic is finally searchable from Blizzard’s own servers.
