WoW: Echo Kills Mythic Twin Fangs on Pull 19, Grabs Race to World First Lead

Echo has claimed the world first Mythic kill of The Twin Fangs, the venomous serpent duo guarding the sixth vault of The Venomous Abyss, and with it the overall lead in World of Warcraft’s Race to World First. Echo has taken down the Twin Fangs, pulling ahead in the Venomous Abyss Race to World First, as first confirmed by Wowhead. Method’s live raid tracker put the winning attempt at pull 19, describing it as a clean kill that moved them into first place on the leaderboard, pushed right to the limit based on the damage output right at the end by the boss.

The kill breaks open what had become the tightest wall of the tier so far, with three of the world’s top guilds trading percentages on the same pull for days.

Viewers watching the parallel streams argued over whether Liquid’s late surge had cost them the kill order, and whether Echo’s cooldown routing on the final Submerge phase was the deciding factor:

Method Takes World Second After 60 Pulls

Method followed shortly after with the world second kill, though its path there took far longer. According to Method’s own progress page, Method achieved world 2nd on The Twin Fangs after 60 pulls and are now moving on, ahead of Liquid. The gap in pull count, 19 versus 60, illustrates how much variance the encounter’s stacking Eternal Venom debuff introduces once raid cooldowns start lining up against the fight’s hard enrage.

Method’s tracker also logged one of the closest near-misses of the week just before that kill: Method reached a new best for The Twin Fangs of 0.72%, and just after that wipe concluded, Echo wiped at 6.28%. Both guilds were, in effect, dying to the same short window of the fight within minutes of each other.

Liquid Stalls at 8.37 Percent

Team Liquid, the guild that closed out the previous tier’s Race to World First in April, has had a rougher week on this particular boss. Method’s live coverage noted that Liquid have had a really good pull on The Twin Fangs dropping them to 8.37%, still short of the kill at the time Echo and Method moved past. Separately, the raid-tracking site Overgear had logged Liquid’s best attempt on August 26 at a wider margin, noting the guild’s progress through the encounter over several days of pulls.

The standings now mean Liquid, long the guild to beat in recent tiers, sits third on this specific boss while it continues chasing the kill to keep pace overall.

How the Venomous Abyss Race Has Split So Far

The Twin Fangs kill is the latest swing in a race that has refused to settle on a single frontrunner. Overgear’s timeline of the tier shows Consequence claimed the opening world first on Nek’zali the Soulcoiler on August 21, guild xD took The Lost Explorers a day later, and August 24 produced a split result, with Liquid securing Entombed Sentinels and Method taking Vashnik the Malignant on the same day.

That pattern, different guilds banking early world firsts before the overall leaderboard consolidates around one or two teams, has held since the raid opened. Overgear’s tracker noted plainly that different guilds claimed several early World Firsts, so the table does not mirror overall standings, and Echo’s Twin Fangs kill is the first result this tier to actually shift who leads outright.

The Venomous Abyss Timeline

The Venomous Abyss went live as part of Patch 12.1, Curse of Ula’tek, with Normal, Heroic and Mythic difficulties unlocking together. Overgear confirmed the raid opened on August 18 for NA and August 19 for EU, bringing EU-based guilds Method and Echo into contention a day after their North American rivals.

Three bosses remain between the field and the finish line: The Coiled Altar, and Ula’tek herself as the raid’s final encounter. With Echo now setting the pace on kill order and Liquid still working through The Twin Fangs at a best of 8.37% remaining, the race heads into its second week with no guild holding a clean sweep of world firsts.
