WoW: Team Liquid Fells Mythic Entombed Sentinels in Seven Pulls, Grabs RWF Lead

Team Liquid has taken down Mythic Entombed Sentinels, the second boss of The Venomous Abyss, and jumped back to the top of the Race to World First leaderboard. Liquid needed seven pulls on Mythic Entombed Sentinels before taking the World First kill and the number one spot on the leaderboard. Wowhead’s news desk confirmed the same result within hours of the kill, reporting that Team Liquid had destroyed the Mythic Entombed Sentinels, taking the lead in the Venomous Abyss Race to World First.

The kill lands during the opening week of Midnight Season 2’s Race to World First, a community-run scramble among top guilds to be first to clear a new Mythic raid tier.

Consequence and xD Set the Pace Before Liquid’s Kill

Liquid was not first to draw blood in this raid. That honour went to guild Consequence, who secured the World First kill of Nek’zali the Soulcoiler on Mythic difficulty, the raid’s opening boss, in a single attempt. Consequence’s speed came from patience: most rivals had spent the raid’s first days farming Heroic gear instead of pushing Mythic straight away.

The Venomous Abyss branches after Nek’zali. The Entombed Sentinels are the second or third boss encounter in the raid, and guilds can choose whether to fight the Sentinels or the Lost Explorers next after defeating Nek’zali. Guild xD took the other branch and got there first, with a pull 28 kill on Mythic The Lost Explorers for World 1st, NA 1st. Liquid’s win on the Sentinels branch means two different guilds now hold World First credit on two different bosses at the same stage of the raid, a quirk of the tier’s optional routing rather than a tie.

Why Entombed Sentinels Punishes Sloppy Positioning

Entombed Sentinels is a two-golem council fight, and it does not forgive stacking. Icy Veins’ guide notes that the Entombed Sentinels are a two-target encounter, but the bosses do not share health and should be fought by two separate raid groups kept at least 40 yards apart, or they gain a 99 percent reduction in damage taken. Every so often the pair rushes together anyway, and raiders have to solve a toxin puzzle where running into another player combines your venoms into one stronger stack, and reaching exactly 4 applications neutralizes the whole thing harmlessly. Miss that number in either direction and the encounter punishes you with a lingering burn effect.

Entombed Sentinels is the second encounter in The Venomous Abyss, the eight-boss raid introduced with World of Warcraft: Midnight Patch 12.1, Curse of Ula’tek. Liquid’s early pulls show the fight tightening fast: a 57.9 percent best on the opening attempt gave way to a 6.58 percent best by pull two, then a 1.76 percent near-miss on pull five before the kill landed two pulls later.

Liquid Chases a Fifth Straight Title

Liquid arrives at this race as the reigning champion. Team Liquid won Midnight Season 1 on April 6, 2026 by killing Midnight Falls after roughly 474 pulls, their fourth RWF in a row, with Echo finishing second on roughly 493 to 494 pulls. A win on The Venomous Abyss would extend that run to five straight titles.

The new raid opened without the usual grace period. The race started the week of August 18, 2026, on August 19 for EU realms, on The Venomous Abyss, the eight-boss raid of Patch 12.1, The Curse of Ula’tek. Six bosses remain between Liquid and the finish line: Vashnik the Malignant, Sszorak, The Twin Fangs, The Coiled Altar and finally Ula’tek herself, whose Mythic kill carries Hall of Fame status for the first 200 guilds worldwide to claim it.

For now the leaderboard has Liquid on top with Entombed Sentinels down, Consequence and xD each holding a World First credit of their own further back in the pack, and five bosses still standing between any of them and the raid’s final vault.
